This Predictive Analytics Educational Hack training course covers the four steps of the Pathway to Predictive Analytics and culminates, on the Friday, with a day long hack, combining everything you’ve learned in order to solve a predictive analytics problem. Each group will then present their methodology and findings to the class.

Each group will then present their methodology and findings to the class.

Day 1: The Pathway to Predictive Analytics Foundation Step 1 Foundation

1. Defining the difference between a prediction and a guess
2. Defining the difference between prediction and forecasting
3. The prediction modelling lifecycle
4. Data wrangling
5. Visualization
6. Story telling
7. Calculating the value proposition

Day 2: The Pathway to Predictive Analytics – Step 2 Statistics

1. What is a hypothesis?
2. How do we test a hypothesis
3. Building a predictive model
4. Measuring error in our model
5. Measuring uncertainty
6. Frequentist versus Bayesian statistics
7. Hands on Lab – Solving a prediction problem using statistics

Day 3: The Pathway to Predictive Analytics – Step 3 Machine Learning

1. Classification
2. Clustering
3. Regression
4. Exploring the common algorithms
5. Exploring common libraries
6. Hands on Lab – Solving a prediction problem using machine learning

Day 4: The Pathway to Predictive Analytics – Step 4 Deep Learning

Expanding on the Step 3 training, this classroom and labs based session introduces you to the world of Deep Learning and includes:

1. The principles and practices of supervised learning and deep learning
2. How to use neural networks to solve regression and classification problems
3. How to use unsupervised learning for visualization and dimensionality reduction
4. How to use convolutional neural networks for image classification
5. How to use Keras
6. Hands on Lab – Solving a prediction problem using deep learning.

Day 5: A day long hack, combining everything you’ve learned in order to solve a predictive analytics problem. Each group will then present their methodology and findings to the class.
